I am searching for an assistant

If you’ve ever wanted to spend a weekday aggressively "dead-heading" flowers and your weekends politely stopping a tipsy groomsman from eating the centerpieces, this very part-time urban farm gig is for you. For roughly 5 hours a week, you’ll trade your dignity for a pair of muddy overalls, helping to plant specialty blooms like lisianthus while perfecting your professional weeding stance. It’s a peaceful, grounding experience—until you remember that those flowers have a "call time" and a very stressed bride waiting for them.

On the weekends, your life becomes a high-stakes episode of "Wedding Rescue." You’ll transition from hauling heavy water buckets on the farm to executing complex floor plans and preventing me from losing my mind. Whether you’re unloading the U-Haul or strategically hiding the "ugly" side of a floral arch, you’ll be the invisible hero of the PQ Farm Flowers. It’s the perfect role for someone who loves nature, wants lots of free flowers, and has enough physical stamina to light 100 candles in 30 mins or less.

Now for some details-

Position Overview
We are seeking a versatile, self-motivated individual to assist with wedding event operations and general farm upkeep. This is a 1099 contract position requiring physical stamina, attention to detail, and a professional demeanor when interacting with guests and vendors. You must be able to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Wedding Setup:

    • Execute day-of plans by unloading and arranging flowers, candles, and décor. Lighting candles and other detail work to create an aesthetically appealing tablescape.

    • Coordinate with other vendors (photographer, caterers) to ensure proper placement, particularly if there is a flip from ceremony to reception.

    • Assist with "strike" (teardown) and venue cleanup immediately following events.

  • Farm Maintenance:

    • Assist with agricultural tasks: soil preparation, planting, weeding, harvesting flowers, and general flower farm maintenance.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Physical Ability: Must be able to kneel, squat, lift at least 50–65 lbs. regularly, and remain on your feet for 6+ hour shifts. For wedding work, you will need to be able to move quickly!

  • Schedule: High availability on weekends (Fridays–Sundays) for weddings (you will be given dates upon contract). Completely flexible hours for farm tasks.

  • Professionalism: Ability to maintain a "sunny disposition" and professional appearance while working around vendors and wedding guests.

  • Skills: Basic knowledge of farming is required; experience in floral design or hospitality is a plus.

  • Status: Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Compensation & Terms

  • Type: 1099 Independent Contractor (responsible for own taxes/insurance).

  • Pay Range: Typically $20 to $25, depending on experience.

  • Start Date: Mid-April.
